Embry A.M.E. Church was established in 1903 in the residence of Samuel and Georgianna Stewart. In 1905, the group erected a chapel in a low-lying area of the village. In 1918, the structure was relocated to Lakeland Road. In 1920, the chapel was replaced with a new church in the same position.As an AME church, it has had a significant impact on the spiritual and social life of Lakeland's African American population. The church is well-known for its commitment to social justice, education, and community service. Embry AME Church has long been a symbol of faith, endurance, and communal cooperation.
